Discussion Topics for OneKirk

The following list is made up of suggestions by members of OneKirk for areas of topical interest which could become discussion topics within OneKirk so as to encourage further discussion in the Church of Scotland on these issues.

  • Abortion (a compassionate response)

  • Atonement: The Purpose of the Cross
  • Children (giving biblical perspectives on rearing children in a non-punitive manner, for instance)
  • Christian Discipleship (what does it mean to follow Christ?)

  • Dialogue and conversation with people of other faiths, or of none (exploring the meaning of spirituality)
  • Emerging forms of Church
  • Faith and politics
  • Family (what is family? Looking at how church can relate fully to single people, single-parents, couples, nuclear families, etc.)

Suggestions

In order to let OneKirk fulfil its role to support Christians who seek a more inclusive, affirming and progressive Church of Scotland we would encourage suggestions for areas of thought, Biblical exploration, or topical concern that can be looked at in future OneKirk publications or articles.

This will be of great value to the OneKirk Working Group. Please submit your ideas and suggestions.
